A Week In The Workshop 128

Hi everyone, welcome old friends and new, and I hope you’re having a good weekend. A little bit of background ‘housekeeping’ this week, so I didn’t actually get started on the Benchdogs rail hinge until Friday, when I shot this video after completing the ‘bare bones’ of the public video.

Long story short it’s a great hinge and does exactly what you expect; I think some folks may quite over the price of the additional template tat makes boring the additional holes easier, but as I show both in this video and the public facing one, you can make those holes without too much effort, with a little careful setting up.

This assumes you’re using an off-the-shelf MFT top of course; if you’re making your own custom MFT top then it’s a trivial matter to make an extra row of holes and have them finish closer to the edge, or if you’re just working off the MFT top or MFT slab, then the hinge and rail support can be notched into the top.

Lots of options then - but you know how some folks love a good whinge!

Been doing more work on the new website and member platform and have hit a few snags relating VAT on EU memberships, so if anyone has any experience of registering for VAT in eg Ireland, in order to comply with the EU regs, I’d welcome a conversation some time! I’ll probably catch you mid-week with a few more thought on this hinge system, but I’ll call this one done for now.

Thank you so much for your amazing support, enjoy the rest of the weekend, and I’ll catch you in the next one.

Peter
