AWITW 315: I wouldn’t start from here

For all 10MW Plus members


Hi everyone! In this one I’m previewing a few of the project that will be coming up this year; first one are some alcove cabinets for my son in Southampton, there’s our under-stairs to tidy up, a bedroom remodel and possibly out utility room as well. Busy, busy.


I have my first ‘3D printing influencer’ sponsor, which is weird considering I’ve been using them for less than a year, and I take a look at Anita’s question from the forums about a slightly fiddly tidy up of plywood cut-out, and also touch on Ian’s question about Birch Ply alternatives for workshop cabinets.


Oh, and I’m going to Finland in February with Mirka; it’ll be cold, I think!

Looking forward to the coming year. The video reminded me of a question I wanted to ask but didn't get round to. On the jigsaw, what is the purpose of the pendelum function if it makes the cuts worse.


Also just thinking fro, the demondtration of how you would cut the plywood, if there is scope for an "Agony Aunt" bite size video where people can write in about their woodworking problems and you offer solutions/advice on how they can repair their relationship with the wood or power tool. 😂


I think you have done it a few times in the members forums, maybe edit some of those for public facing video and create specifc branding for it. Could also…

Thanks Dafydd! The pendulum is for faster, rougher cuts eg cross-cutting an 8x2 or putting a birds-mouth into a rafter. As for the 'agony aunt' idea it's a good one and I'd never say never, but I think that kind of access is best kept as a benefit of membership, but yes, a '10MinuteWorkshop Plus member Dafydd asked about jigsaw blades and it was such a great question I thought it was worth putting the answer in a video..." would work. 👍 As for 3D printing widgets / accessories for the under-stairs, that's a great idea too! Not sure what they might be - haven't got that far thinking about that yes, head's full of alcove units right now!
