Hi everyone! So no surprise that it’s mostly about the new space today; there’s an update on the damp wall and some further thoughts on how the space is to be arranged. I did have a bit of an epiphany on the island work area, swapping round the MFT and table saw and making use of the router bench to mount a rail that a fence can bear against; with a little careful work I think it could give a better (micro-adjustable) fence and also the option of positioning the fence to the left of the blade.

Many thanks to Niraj who posted a link to something on FOG where a member there had sone something similar on a rolling cart; I hadn’t seen that but good to see that others are thinking along the same lines!

Beefing up the security on the double doors is proving to be a bit of headache; as I say at the start it’s an outward-opening rebated door set that really needs a mortice latch and deadlock and for convenience I’d like them keyed alike, and with a rebate set for each. Given the number of companies out there selling this stuff you’d think it would be easy, but my goodness some businesses do make it difficult to spend money with them, with many assuming you’d want a sash lock, but I don’t want a handle on the outside and I don’t want to have to lock myself in to stop any random passer-by / chancer to be able to open the door.

Hey ho, I’ll sort it out, and TBH anything will be better than the janky hasp & staple that’s on the door now; have to say though it’s not often that I find myself wishing for an Amazon-alike ‘frequently bought together…’ bundle, but some of these companies could really up their game with it!

I’m away on this trip with Mirka to their HQ in Finland this week, so don’t expect anything from me midweek - if I have the opportunity I’ll post something, but from the itinerary it’ll be pretty full-on.
