Text of the post is below. Thanks all!

Hi everyone! So my apologies but some actual woodwork has started to creep back into the workshopothis week as I got started on the frames for the LED panels, but I was slightly stymied from getting much further by delayed deliveries of the electrical bits and pieces to my local Toolstation; they’ve arrived now, but me and Mrs 10M had other plans on that day, so I’ll get on with the fit-out in due course.

The frames went together fine - though as I say in the vid they would have been much easier to make in the new space, given the size of them - but the first one I put together had a real twist to it; I tried the old trick of clamping it to the bench with one corner pulled out of shape, and left overnight. Surprisingly, this worked very well, so I have three pretty straight and square frames to add the light panels to.

I’ve been struggling a bit with getting hold of LED panels that are like the ones I already have - direct 220v, no driver required - but I think I’ve now found some; I’ve ordered a couple so I can check them out, and if they’ll do the job then I’ll get a full set. It’s not a big deal, just that having had these panels for quite a few years now, the ones without drivers have been a lot less trouble and have lasted really well.

I think I’ve decided to paint the frames rather than leaving them as natural timber, so there’ll be a bit of filling and sanding in my near future too, and this brings home an interesting point about spraying; for a few small bits like this, I’m just not sure I can really be bothered to get the sprayer going - even the compact one from Ali Express - as there’s next to nothing saved time-wise, and especially when you take the cleanup into account. Plus I’m not looking for a perfect finish, just to make the frames blend into the ceiling a bit more.

We’ll see, but at the minute it’s feeling more like brush & roller time!

Anyway, that’s where we are at the moment; thanks so much for your support, enjoy the rest of the weekend, and I’ll see you in the midweek.

Peter
