MidWeek 101*

Direct video link - https://youtu.be/UeiMUoMx920

Hey everyone, I'm back after the weekend away and just wanted to touch base with you all. Apologies for being an 'absentee landlord' but lots to chew on over the last couple of days, as well as a video to shoot.

Will chat more at the weekend, but the video pretty much says it all for now.

Best, Peter

*I realised I should probably be numbering these mid-week videos, so I’m starting at a random 101. 🤷‍♂️ 👍

A very elective bunch. We all look forward to the inspiration from this weekend. Are you going to meet any of them at their workshops and farm?

Thanks Kevin. We’re spread around a bit, but I’d long planned to do a YouTube UK Maker workshop grand tour kind of thing; I always intended it to be a podcast series, but I think a video series may be better. 👍

That's a great photo seeing all you guys together, many that I follow 👍.

I saw a great comment on one of the YT channels about it - "you guys are like the DIY Avengers" 😂🤣 and I couldn't agree more.

I would definitely do a follow-up on your Cheap Tool series with that sanding test.

Did the Cheap Tool have just as good dust extraction?

— Pigtails

— Vibration

— Ease of use

— and more!

Worthwhile saying the obvious — if one moves the sander in the prescribed raster pattern, one will have even coverage across the entire surface area.

Given the obvious, then the specialized use cases should be disussed:

— Rectangular sanders are for sanding of window sills and trim and doll houses

— Round orbital sanders are for large surface areas

— Triangle sanders are for getting into tight areas

Thanks for the insight into your testing! 😀

Thanks! I cover a lot of that ground in an older video - Which sander, when? - https://youtu.be/uBSOan7D1Ow

Sorry, I was going to chat a bit more about it at the weekend but I should have linked it here. It’s called ProjectAir - https://youtube.com/c/ProjectAirAviation 👍

I was pleasantly surprised that I follow 5 out of the 8 at the table. As to the oldest at the table just as well I was not there , I'm 82.

Hi Brian, like you 5 of the people on Peters table (including Peter of course) are 5 of a total of 6 "YouTubers" / "Creators" that I follow exclusively and I'm sure there are a lot more that follow those same 5 😁.

I'm 62, and although I've been doing Everything DIY since leaving school I only got really serious about proper Woodworking about 18 months ago and often think I've left things a little late.

Seeing your post and seeing your 82 gives me a lot of encouragement that it's never too late and hopefully (God willing) I will enjoy my new found woodworking enthusiasm for many years to come 😁
