Hi everyone, welcome, and welcome back! It’s a AWITW that’s priced together from many little snippets of video this week - I’d usually post these throughout the week but we had the 2nd part of the Keith Brown chat mid-week, and I didn’t want to take away from that.
Anyway, lots going on this week; with Makers Central looming large I need to make an MFT-style top to show the DIY rail hinge, and thought I’d kill two birds with one stone by using it to answer a question about the Benchdogs hinge, while I was there.
I did a bit more work on the DIY rail hinge, and fitted the metal pins for height adjustment, which work well, though I wonder if I really need a pair of them; perhaps one would be enough?
Also had an epiphany about the arc that the hinge makes when it moves - I have the rear overhang at just 100mm, but there’s an extra 20mm of movement when the hinge swings - and I think it’s to do with the thickness, as much as the pivot-point. So more experimentation to be done, possibly with thinner materials; there’s been so much interest in this I’ve decided to shelve the little plywood boxes for now, and work on this this week, and see if I can get any further with it.
Oh, and I bought a new thing, but only some of it’s arrived as yet. A always, I’ll keep you posted as to any further developments in the week, but enjoy the rest of the weekend, thank you so much for your support, and I’ll see you next time.
Peter
p.s. Makers Central next weekend - come and say hello if you’re there; I’m on stand C13 along with a few others. 👍
