A Week In The Workshop 154

Hi everyone! As you know I'm away at an annual YouTuber thing this weekend, but I caught a bit of chat in the forums about router tables and router lifts, and it occurred to me that I hadn't recently mentioned the legislation that came into effect last December that affects sales of hand-held routers.

Long story short, from December last year hand-held routers must have the equivalent of an NVR built into them for safety reasons; manufacturers and retailers had 12 months to dispose of their stock, so if you want a hand-held plunge router that will play nicely in a table, then you need to get your skates on as the shutters come down on December 21st.

Anyway, in a related topic, I'm going to be switching out my Sauter router and lift for a Jessem lift and AUK motor before the end of the year; nothing wrong with the Sauter, just time to try something different.

Sauter router and lift in the Plus giveaways forum? 🤔 Watch this space...

Thanks so much for your support, and I'll catch you in the week.

thanks its becoming rather difficult to find a suitable handheld to mount into a table without having to custom make a lift and fiddle around to switch it on/off

Yes I had to look up NVR, there is a long list of meanings. I guess No Voltage Release is the relevant one here.

I'm sorry Catherine; yes, NVR = No Volt Release in this context. 👍
