A Week In The Workshop 163

Hi everyone, hope you have a good week. In this one I chat about the quick n dirty tracksaw mitre jig - the whole thing took 3 hours to make and shoot video on, and is doing very well! If everything goes to plan I’ll have an equally quick one out for next week - keep you posted on that midweek.

I used the O3 CA glue to stick the test cut together in that video, and I’m happy to say that I’m now an affiliate for O3 adhesives; I really like their thick CA glue, and you can get 10% discount off all their adhesives using the offer code “10MinuteWorkshop” at

There’s a bit more chat about the table saw options - very slim pickings when you start with a very specific wish list, and I certainly won’t be rushing into buying something just for the sake of it. I’ve managed to have a chat with a couple of people who have had hands on with the new Festool cordless saw and it certainly looks interesting; not sure it’s 100% right for mw, but I wouldn’t rule it out.

The abrasive sample packs giveaway was another popular one, I had a bit of a glitch in the screen recording when I did the ‘wheel o’ names’ earlier, so you’ll have to trust me when I say that the first name up was Grant Paris, followed by Kevin Howarth, Duncan Stokes, Mick Beale, and Catherine Ellis

Congratulations everyone, I’ll be in touch for your details and will do my best to get these out next week.

I’ll be trying to rattle out a quick video for next week - keep you posted on that - then I’ll be taking a break from posting here for Christmas, back in the New Year, and as mentioned previously, I plan on taking a break from posting public YouTube videos in January.

That’s it for now. Thank you all so much for being here, enjoy the rest of the weekend, and I’ll catch you in the week.

Funny you should mention people having problems with flat aluminium tables. Many moons ago I bought a Trend router table - the fourth one was flat. My Rexon table saw never had a problem with flatness despite being aluminium - trouble with that is that spares are hard to source - it has a somewhat idiosyncratic mitre slot that means that I have to use the router table to make hardwood strips to fit the slot - luckily the router table is flat …

From the blurb I got from Festool, about the saw, it was not obvious that the digital bit was limited to depth and angle - not being able to dial in a width is a…

Thanks Andrew, and same to you and your family too. Yes, Sawstop is owned by TTS, Festool's parent company - which of course, may also explain why the regular SAWSTOP saws aren't available here... 🤷‍♂️ 👍
