Hi everyone. I genuinely expected this to be a shorter one, but hey, things never quite work out that way do they!
I had a very sociable Friday when (Britain’s Best Woodworker finalist) Jacob Bell stopped by the workshop for a chat. Jacob’s a very talented young woodworker from the Norfolk, if you don’t know his work then check out his Instagram - I’ll link it below.
We’ve chatted a bit on instagram, and we missed each other by a day at the Festool HQ visit I did not so long back, but we finally caught up with each other at Makers Central. Always good to chat face to face, and we had a good old chinwag in the workshop on Friday; Jacob has also joined us here on 10MW Plus, so I’ll look forward to continuing the conversation in the forums and comments.
Hilariously Mrs 10M also stopped by Friday en-route to the house to check on progress, and then I finally got down to work and tried out the new saw, which works as advertised!
There’s the draw for the Sauter Router giveaway in this video too - no spoilers, but congratulations Tim - and also the next giveaway as I’m keen to make some space!
All told it was quite a week; hope you’re enjoying the weekend - I know I am - and I’ll catch you mid-week for a bit more saw, and more of that chat with Jacob.
Thanks as always for being part of Plus, and I’ll see you again very soon.
Peter

Fantastic results there Peter and I understand the blade guard frustration, I know they're there for a very good reason, but I like to see where I'm cutting and am extremely careful.
The saw certainly seems to cut nicely and suit your style of work. I agree about the blade guard they can be both a blessing and a curse.
I feel your pain Peter with the Blade Guard 🤨 I know they shouldn't be removed, and you can become complacent without them.
However, like you, I want to be able to see just where the blade is going to cut.
Yes, you could do a dry run with the guard up or off and the blade not running, but that could get very tedious very quickly.
It's not like your saw or mine has dust extraction built into the blade guard.
I've resigned myself to just being very careful when using the table saw and always thinking about the start of the cut, the middle of the cut and the end of the cut, especially on larger sheets an…
Very nice piece of equipment, glad to see you like it! Now that you have the saw I vote for more Mondrian inspired builds.😁 Just an idea: maybe instead of bluetooth batteries, get another bluetooth switch and mount it on the front of the saw just above or to the side of the saw power buttons. That way you can turn the saw/extractor both on/off at the same time and it's about $100 cheaper.
Congratulations Tim.
This pretty much sums up my luck. My name was opposite Tim’s so I couldn’t have been farther away from winning unless I hadn’t entered at all 😭
