Base Cabinet Basics [*Ad] [member edit]

A couple of years ago I put out a set of videos called Cabinetry Basics about wall cabinet construction and even today I still get a lot ‘yes but what about base cabinets’ questions, so in this one I’ll be condensing many of these questions down into an easy to follow tutorial to help you understand why I make them the way I do. Enjoy!

[*Ad] This video is sponsored by Medite. You know Medite, they make top quality MDF, and every painted set of shelves, bookcases, wardrobes , cabinets or doors you may have seen me make on this channel was made with Medite MR or Moisture Resistant MDF, and in this video I’m using Medite’s ultimate MRMDF, Medite Optima.

Visit meditesmartply for more information, and I’d like to thank Medite for the opportunity to use Optima on this project.

Nice video, Peter. It's worth leaving a good bit of space at the back of cabinets if they're for kitchen installs. Some interesting details here https://advice.diy-kitchens.com/customer-questions/what-is-a-kitchen-unit-service-void/

I made my first set of cabinets many years ago with the sides going right to the floor. The house was Victorian and every single cabinet needed scribing to the floor. Every cabinet since then, excepting one or two standalone cupboards have used the adjustable feet.

Fantastic overview of base cabinets! Bringing all the pieces of information together in such an informative way is much appreciated.

I’m not a fan of the 32mm ‘system’ tbh, but I could probably do something to explain why that is. 👍
