Early midweek 258; jigsaw blades

Hi everyone; I know, it’s off-schedule, but if I posted this at the usual time I’d be doing it from a boat on the Thames, so I’m popping this out a little earlier in the day.

My Bosch up & down cut blades arrived, along with my cheap & cheerful Amtech ones so I thought I’d do a quick comparison between them, and the two Festool blades that are my go-to. Spoiler; I think the Bosch will be my go-to blade from now on…

I misread the package - I thought it said they were only good for material 15-50mm, but it was actually 5-50mm; no worries, they worked fine in the offcut of 18mm Birch ply, once I’d removed or hammered in the staples.

Interesting little test, and those Bosch blades are definitely ones to look at, even if they are the most costly here - though far, far less than the Mafell Cunex blades of course.

The speed and pendulum also make a huge difference to the cut and the handling too; as a tracksaw guy my saws are usually at eleven, but dialling it back helped a lot; would be interesting to see how the Bosch blades performed at a higher speed, so there’ll be more to come on this, though it’ll probably wait until after Christmas!

I’ll be in and out of the forms as usual, but like a lot of folks I have family arriving tomorrow, Christmas Eve, so I’ll take this opportunity to say thanks so much for all your support this year, and I hope you have a lovely family Christmas.
