I am not really in the 'precision required' mob, Peter, but many ultra precise makers whom I admire, whether table saw users or not, seem to add the precision they need on small parts, by using a shooting board and a hand plane to finish. I imagine you have considered this option?

As fiddly (and imperfect) as it was, I’m pretty sure the results I achieved were better than anything I could manage with a shooting board and one of my hand planes Norman! 😂 👍

Having listened to the narrative on this latest video I have a question for you.

Do you ever feel "flat" after completing a project like the table? When I have finished a project and created something and see it put in place or delivered I often feel almost depressed at seeing it go out the door, almost like saying a permanent goodbye to a friend, which being well into my 60s is becoming more and more common. The lift come of course a short while later when the next project comes along but that can often take some time.

Thanks Derek, that’s a great observation! I know exactly what you mean, and often back in the fitted furniture days the relief of getting something completed would often have a tinge of sadness attached, knowing that - if everything went to plan - you probably wouldn’t see it again. As you say, the next commission coming in usually wiped that out, but it’s definitely a thing I’ve experienced, yes. 👍

Interesting Peter, look forward to seeing which Table Saw you go for in the end 😁. Although I've just got my first Tracksaw, I'm still going to hang on to my Table Saw which is only a couple of years old.

It's certainly not a precision saw by any means (Bosch GTS10XC) but for a Novice like me and with a few YouTube inspired tweaks it's more than exceptable.

My new "shiny" Christmas present from my wife arrived today (Record AC400 Dust Filter) and not only is she refusing to wrap it, she wants it out of the house so she doesn't trip over it again 🤣🤣.

That means I'm just going to have to install it, as soon as…

I can recommend the Hanson Magnetic Stud Finder. There are a number of cheaper copies on the market now but the original really works well. I have not tried it on Artex which might be too thick but it has proved a god-send on normal plaster.
