Midweek 259: Goodbye '25, hello '26

Hi everyone, hope you had a very pleasant Christmas break and are looking forwards to a suitably fitting New Year celebration. I’m just popping a quick video out for the last day of the year as I was in the workshop and wanted to tinker a bit more with jigsaw blades and Makita batteries - which as you’ll see I have very little experience of!
I’ve also followed in Derek from Karvd’s footsteps and bought some Meta smart specs - I try very hard to make ‘considered’ movements while recording, but it’ll take some practice, so apologies for any motion-sickness inducing nodding-dog moments in the first couple of minutes.
There’s also a very brief explanation of the lift-up section of the workbench that Lee was asking about in the forums; nothing complex to it, just a frame that’s hinged to give a bit of support to full sheets of board - and not something that’s likely to be needed any time soon tbh, as the path into the workshop is now filled with table saws and other benches!
Anyway, that’s all for now, and for 2025; I’ll be back on Sunday probably, with the annual roundup of how the channel - and the 10MinuteWorkshop empire as a whole - has done over the last year; shocker - I think taking 3 months off to wrest my wrists has probably had a 25% impact on things generally - but I’ll go through the numbers, figure it out to get a snapshot of where we are, and try and see where 2026 may be taking us.
Happy New Year in advance everyone, thank you for all your support over the last 12 months, and I’ll look forward to seeing you again soon.
Peter

Out of interest does the Festool saw have a faster cutting action than the Bosch, or a different stroke length? Does mains or battery powered make a difference to explain the difference in cut with the same blades? Just random thoughts as I don't have multiple saws to run a test.
Happy New Year!
