More Saw (plus a DIY Flip-Stop) - member edit

Another week, and another set of impressions of the CSCSYS50 cordless sliding table saw from Festool. There’s some new bluetooth batteries, some questions answered, a much wider fence for the mitre gauge and a DIY flip-stop for easy repeat crosscuts. Enjoy!

A good video Peter. Was that original Baltic Birch or one of the new types of ply you have been talking about as the grain looks pretty tight. I have the 4.0Ah bluetooth batteries and use them with my hammer drill and OSC18 multi tool and they hold their charge brilliantly. I really like the look of the saw and its compactness and noise levels are certainly plus points for me.

Thanks Dawn. Yes, that’s genuine/original Birch ply, not the wannabe alternatives. 👌

Maybe you should try swapping the batteries around in their respective slots as a further test as maybe the saw has some sort of priority when using the batteries i.e. use more of the first slot initially, rather than load balancing across both batteries Just a random thought.

Thanks John. Yes, it’s in my list of things to try, but it’s a 36v saw, I’d expect t the draw to come equally from both batteries. 🤷‍♂️👍

I am so pleased you’re pleased Peter and like others Bluetooth has as much detrimental effect on battery life as having your tooth brush on charge at home😂 Great video as always 👍⭐️

Love the little flag stop and I too chuckled when I saw the Instagram preview of the video.

You just have to substitute "Dolls" for "Trolls," and that about somes them up.

I too think Festool could have put a lot more effort into the Fence and Mitre Gauge to make them more repeatable as I'm sure they are as accurate as any other saw dependent on the users eye sight 😁.

Look forward to the next installment.

Making the flagstop was an excellent example of precisely the tasks this saw was designed to do. I wish I had this saw when I was making Peters rail hinge system!
