Great video Peter. I just wanted to give a second to your recommendation on the Strawbytes "Waste side jig". I'm a new convert to track saws, and Karl has really come up with a well executed answer to a track saw challenge (his vacuum hose cord clips are also far superior to the eBay offerings)

The longer rail support shown at 4:40 was something I hadn’t considered, I’ve always done longer crosscuts in landscape on the MFT as otherwise you’re restricted to about 550mm workpiece size on the MFT.

Further improvement: rather than putting the dowel in the upright part of the launchpad which only gives maybe 600mm of crosscut with the front dog removed, if the dowel was at the front edge of the launchpad that’d give another 100mm capacity.

True on both points. There's always a risk with using the front peg that the slight sideways slop means it's not as accurate as bearing the rail off dogs (with or without dog locks). However I think the further the dowel is away from the MFT actually the accuracy increases as the rail sideways movement is over a longer length so the variance angle reduces.

But the second issue of needing to make the peg height longer I hadn't thought about properly. Was thinking you'd just raise the front support on the MFT but then you're still restricted to the MFT depth.

Maybe could make a stepped front support with the peg on a front ledge 18 or 12mm up…
